Discoveries
Based on a long narrative poem, combining music, movement, lights and visual effects, DISCOVERIES traces some key moments in the story of our Land and her peoples. It is the culmination of an intense, interactive process among members of the diverse performance ensemble.

The closing Ritual provides both performers and audience the opportunity to acknowledge their tribal ancestry and the contributions they have to bring to the creation of a truly New World.
​
In this way, we continue the story of the discovery of our Land and who we are as a People, honoring cultural diversity among us as the real wealth of our Nation, the raw material from which might emerge, one day, spiritual gold.

by the Youth
& Friends of
St. Luke's Church
followed by
a parade
through
the streets
of the
South Bronx
The script, written in collaboration with participants, was based on interviews they conducted with local residents.
The final Ritual included an opportunity for participants and audience to create together a Proclamation of Rights & Commitments for the betterment of their neighborhood.
A joyous procession through the streets, displaying their Proclamation, ended the event.
